Our Approach
AQRCB faced critical operational risks as Quebec’s deposit system overhaul imposed new digital burdens: fragmented data reporting, unreliable refund reconciliation across RVMs and Bag Drops, compliance gaps around UPC traceability, and disjointed consumer app integrations threatening refund timelines and customer trust. Without a unified, scalable system, AQRCB risked audit failures, regulatory penalties, and public backlash. LT3 DRS played a pivotal role in addressing these challenges: one platform automating real-time reporting, UPC management, refund processing, and direct mobile integration. Our solution didn’t just meet regulatory requirements - it redefined operational excellence, delivering bulletproof compliance, total system transparency, and a frictionless path for AQRCB’s long-term expansion.
The Result
Since deploying LT3’s DRS platform, Quebec’s modernized deposit-refund system has achieved measurable success. The system is on track to collect over five billion containers annually by 2027, with recovery rates up 9% following early implementation phases. Backed by more than 3,500 return sites and advanced consumer integrations, Quebec is on track for a 90% return rate by 2032, diverting over 50,500 tons of material from landfills each year. While these results reflect a broad modernization effort, LT3 DRS provided the critical infrastructure for scalable reporting, seamless refunds, and full regulatory compliance-helping enable these outcomes and strengthening Quebec’s circular economy leadership.
